The 10-acre Washingtonville Cemetery is located in the heart of the village and has its main entrance on North Street. It is a not-for-profit, non-sectarian cemetery.
A drive down the tree-lined lane brings you into the old section of the cemetery where you will find generations of burial sites of the ordinary, dedicated families that made Washingtonville their home and their final resting place. The names on the monuments reflect the tapestry of people who built this community. Some simple, others ornate, the monuments - made from sandstone, zinc, granite and natural rock - grace the rolling tiers with their architectural styles.
A focal point in the cemetery is Soldiers' Monument, a tribute to the many veterans who have made this cemetary their final resting place. The inscription states:
Peace
Erected to the memory of the Soldiers
of the Civil War
by the will of
John Greene
A veteran who dies December 19, 1913
aged 76 years

Charity and Loyalty
